The government has increased federal excise duty (FED) rate on various brands of cigarettes from February 14, 2009.The FED would be;- 63.00% of the retail price on the locally produced cigarettes if their retail price exceeds Rs.17 per ten cigarettes.
- Rs. 3.54 per ten cigarettes plus 69.00% per incremental rupee or part thereof on locally produced cigarettes if their retail price exceeds Rs 8.29 per ten cigarettes, but does not exceed Rs.17
- Rs.3.54 per ten cigarettes on locally produced cigarettes, if their retail price does not exceed Rs 8.29 per ten cigarettes.
Therefore, budies think before starting or increasing cigarettes consumption. It might be a valentine gift from governement of Pakistan to get rid of cigarettes. In short, quit smoking.

INVITATION FOR PARTICPATION OF ANTI-TOBACCO HIKE - ISB
National Volunteer Movement in collaboration with Ministry of Health is going to organize Anti-tobacco Hike on 1st March, 2009 on trail 3 at Margallah Hills (near F-6/3). The purpose is to create an awareness about tobacco hazards and attract youth towards healthy sports/activities.
