Every human activity follows an Economic/Commercial pattern; if the Economic/Commercial pattern remains viable the human activity survives otherwise the human activity succumbs to times and falls. That is to say Economic/Commercial activity has to be honestly audited otherwise its viability diminishes and the activity moves towards its end. Running of countries is one of the largest human activities. The saying is true in this context as well. In running the activity honestly it depends how honestly the activity has been audited and how much deterrence the audit authorities have over the managers. It goes without saying here that the audit activity has to be honest. If the auditors themselves start misusing their deterrence for personal gains then nothing worse can happen to that human activity. Chartered Accountants are at the very core of any country’s Economic/Commercial activities. Pakistan is rightly known to be one of the most corrupt countries in the world. USSR expired because its Economic/Commercial pattern had failed, because of corruption. Being corrupt, are we not on USSR’s path ! ! ! With this preview I would like to inform our worthy community of Chartered Accountants that if we failed in our duties the writing on the wall should be clear. If ever anything adverse happens to Pakistan the direct responsibility shall rest with ACAP. The lawyers’ community has proved that Pakistan shall stand for the right. Now the buck is entirely with our Accountants. The cry of the time is perform your duties without any fear, favour or greed. There only lies the survival of your lovely Pakistan.

I m sorry but there s just no comparison. b/w Pakistan and India. While India may dish out 3000 CAs every year, the fact remains that Pakistani CAs are far far superior to the indians....

Indian CAs dont even know how to record assets correctly.... what else can they do.

At October 22, 2009 at 10:55 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

But how can you say that Indian CAs don't know how to record assets? Cany any body give any example?

We must live in reality. It is just a myth that we Pakistanis are superior as far as the CAs are concerned. Is it not an eye opener, that ICAEW offers more exemptions to ICAI member than a ICAP member? We have lots of illusions such as our Army, our airforce pilots our CAs are superior than other countries such as India. My advise to all brothers is to live in reality and face it as that is the only way we will be striving towards excellence and compete in international market.

An ICAP member.

But it is also a fact that despite the so called inferior quality of indian CA's they have more exemptions from ICAEW (all papers) to pakistani CA's (13 exemptions)...
if they are so bad, how come they get more exemptions whilst ICAP has successfully tried to be ICAEW's surrogate for years....

Being finance professionals we should accept the reality that not all the chartered accountants have Same set of skills levels. Even I personally know several chartered accountants who hardly deserve to claim such a presigeous qualification.

I have worked with the reputed Charetered Accountants firms in Pakistan and have some experience and interaction with Indian Chartered Accountants as well due to International travelling and assignments.

Its true that our superiority complex may lead us to the wrong path and a lot of ground have already been lost.

The comparison is also untrue due to the huge difference of qualified professionals.

Dear Colleagues
my advice, be professional, the institute has given you authority to sign accounts of public listed and other companies. Do justice , unravel double accounting for tax and custom duty purpose, be loyal to State and your profession and yourself

Its quite impossible that they can do justice with their professional reponsiblities. They just want to earn money and some times Practicing CAs are doing job of middleman among their clients and regulatory authorities.

Other CAs who are in job with some companies are just trying to manuvaring thing to show good picture of the company.. We need to think about it that we are getting good salaries for being dishonest with our profession.

it does not matter to which accounting body CAs belong, whether it is ICAP, ICAI, ICAEW. we as professional accountants have to fulfill our duties, work in public interest, have integrity and honesty in business/professional/personal relationships.
